Eureka, CA – The National Weather Service in Eureka reports that a thick marine layer has brought patchy dense fog to the northwest California coast, with low visibility expected through 9 a.m. PST Wednesday, November 12.

According to forecasters, the fog is most widespread across portions of Humboldt and Del Norte counties, where visibility can drop rapidly—at times to near zero—especially along Highway 101 and other coastal routes.

Drivers are urged to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and allow extra time for travel. The NWS also reminds motorists to remain alert for pedestrians and cyclists, as dense fog can make them difficult to see.

Conditions are expected to improve mid-morning Wednesday as the fog gradually lifts with daytime heating. However, forecasters note that additional fog formation may return to coastal valleys overnight later this week as marine moisture persists.
