Eureka, CA – A tranquil December day is expected across northwest California Wednesday, with sunny skies and seasonable temperatures dominating the forecast, according to the National Weather Service Eureka.
Highs along the coast will reach between 58 and 61 degrees, including in Eureka, Arcata, and Crescent City, while inland areas like Weaverville and Garberville will warm into the mid-60s to low 70s under clear skies. Light southwest winds are expected, with only a 10% chance of isolated showers near the coast early in the day.
Forecasters note that the mild pattern continues a stretch of quiet early winter weather for the region. “Today will feature dry, mostly sunny conditions across northwest California, with slightly warmer temperatures inland,” meteorologists said. “Only coastal areas may see a brief sprinkle.”
Overnight lows will dip into the low to mid-40s along the coast and upper 30s inland, with patchy fog possible in valley locations before sunrise Thursday. Drivers traveling along U.S. 101 and State Route 299 should be aware of potential early morning fog patches reducing visibility.
The dry trend is expected to persist through the end of the week, though the next Pacific system could bring light rain chances by late Sunday or Monday.
