EUGENE, Ore. – Sunshine across western Oregon will give way to wet roads and possible thunderstorms by late this weekend as an active system moves in. Temperatures in Eugene could climb into the low 80s Saturday before showers develop Saturday night and intensify Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service in Portland, a 60% chance of rain begins late Saturday night, with showers and possible thunderstorms most likely between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Sunday. Rainfall totals may reach a quarter inch in the valley, with localized higher amounts under storms. Conditions are expected to dry out by Sunday night, leaving cooler highs in the low 70s.

Travelers on I-5 and Highway 126 should prepare for wet pavement and reduced visibility during downpours. Outdoor events may face delays or cancellations Sunday, while residents are urged to keep an eye on changing conditions, especially during the midday thunderstorm window.

The system exits quickly, bringing sunshine back to Eugene and much of the Willamette Valley Monday and Tuesday, with daytime highs holding in the mid to upper 70s.
