Eugene, Ore. – Oregon residents face another scorcher as extreme heat holds firm over Eugene through Tuesday night, raising risks for commuters and outdoor workers. The National Weather Service warns of highs pushing 95°F Monday and 92°F Tuesday, extending an Extreme Heat Warning through 11 p.m. Tuesday.

According to the agency, heat will peak along the Interstate 5 corridor, where prolonged sun and limited overnight cooling could stress vulnerable groups. Hydration, limiting outdoor activity, and checking on elderly neighbors remain critical safety steps.

Monday brings blazing sunshine with highs near 95°F. Winds remain calm, offering little relief. By Tuesday, highs near 92°F combine with northwest breezes in the afternoon. Nights cool only to the low 60s, leaving little break from the daytime heat.

Road crews and first responders remind drivers to carry water and avoid leaving children or pets in parked cars, especially along I-5 where traffic backups intensify heat risk. Cooling centers across Lane County remain open until midweek.

Relief arrives Wednesday with partly cloudy skies and highs near 86°F. By Thursday and Friday, highs dip into the upper 80s with overnight lows in the upper 50s. This pattern continues into the weekend, setting up more manageable conditions ahead of Labor Day travel.

Warnings stay in effect until late Tuesday. Updates from local officials are expected daily until temperatures stabilize.
