EUGENE, Ore. – Residents across western Oregon will enjoy a stretch of warm, sunny weather through Saturday before a sharp shift brings rain and cooler air into the Willamette Valley late Sunday. Afternoon highs are expected to peak near 80°F Saturday, but the pleasant spell won’t last long.

According to the National Weather Service in Portland, a 30 percent chance of rain develops in Eugene by late Sunday afternoon, increasing to a 70 percent likelihood of showers overnight. Clouds will thicken, and lows are expected to dip into the mid-50s. Monday brings widespread rain across Lane County, with daytime highs falling to the upper 60s.

Travelers on Interstate 5 from Salem to Eugene should be prepared for wet commutes starting Monday morning. Outdoor events planned for Sunday evening could also see interruptions as showers intensify. The weather service advises keeping rain gear close at hand and avoiding slick backroads during heavier downpours.

The unsettled pattern will linger into early next week, with additional rain likely Tuesday and Wednesday before skies clear slightly toward Thursday. More advisories may follow as confidence grows in the storm track.
