Oregon’s Willamette Valley is damp and chilly this morning, and mist hangs low over Eugene as steady rain falls. At 43 degrees, it feels raw outside, and wet pavement along I-5 and Beltline Highway reflects gray skies. Colder air is poised to move in, setting the stage for rain to mix with snow.
Rain continues through late morning before transitioning to scattered showers. Highs hold near 39 degrees today. According to the National Weather Service in Portland, snow levels drop from around 1,900 feet to near 1,200 feet as the day progresses. Most valley locations stay rain-dominant, but brief rain–snow mixes are possible in heavier showers.
Tonight, temperatures fall to near 33 degrees. A mix of rain and snow develops at times, though little or no accumulation is expected in Eugene. Even so, slick spots may form on elevated roads and bridges if bursts briefly cool the surface. This is the time of year when flash freezing can occur after sunset.
Tuesday brings continued rain and snow showers with highs near 43. Snow levels lower to around 600 feet before rising again in the afternoon. By Wednesday, showers persist with highs in the low 40s and lows near freezing at night. Drivers should plan extra time, especially during early commutes.
Showers linger into Thursday before easing late week. Looking ahead to President’s Day Week, temperatures gradually rebound into the upper 40s and low 50s, hinting at a milder stretch across western Oregon.
