EUGENE, Ore. – A restless wind sweeps through the valley before dawn, rustling rain-soaked leaves across driveways and past glowing porch lights. The Pacific storm machine is in full motion this Saturday, ushering in one of the most blustery weekends of fall so far for Eugene and the southern Willamette Valley.

The National Weather Service in Portland has issued a Wind Advisory through Saturday night, warning of gusts reaching 45 mph. Showers and embedded thunderstorms are expected after midday, with the heaviest rainfall hitting during the late afternoon and evening. Periods of downpours could briefly reduce visibility along I-5 and Highway 126, especially north toward Corvallis. New rainfall totals may range between a half and three-quarters of an inch.

Winds will gradually ease late Saturday night, though lingering showers continue into Sunday. Expect highs near 63°F Sunday afternoon before another round of steady rain redevelops late in the day. The first half of Monday still looks damp and gray, but models show high pressure building by Tuesday, bringing much calmer and drier weather through midweek.

For residents, the next 36 hours are prime time to secure loose decorations and clear drains before leaves clog runoff routes. Halloween week should start on a dry, mild note, giving trick-or-treat planners a welcome break from the wet pattern.

Still, long-range guidance hints at a chilly November ahead—and the Pacific isn’t finished yet.
