Eugene, OR – A fatal crash on September 15 left two people dead after two vehicles collided on Northwest Expressway. Deputies from Lane County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at about 7 a.m., along with Eugene Police and Eugene Springfield Fire.
According to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, the crash involved a white Toyota Sienna and a tan Chevy Trailblazer. Investigators revealed that the Toyota was heading north when the Chevy crossed into the opposite lane. Both vehicles collided head-on, killing the driver of the Toyota on the scene.
The Chevy’s driver and passenger were rushed to a nearby hospital, where the driver later died. Neither of the Chevy’s occupants were wearing seatbelts, while the Toyota’s driver had theirs on.
Authorities have yet to release the identities of the deceased, pending notification of next of kin. The crash closed Northwest Expressway for several hours while deputies cleared the scene. The Lane County Sheriff’s Office thanked the Eugene Police Department and Public Works for their support in managing the scene.
