Eugene, OR – Six drivers were arrested on suspicion of impaired driving in Lane County over the weekend, according to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said each case involved potentially dangerous behavior that could have ended in tragedy.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies stopped multiple vehicles between September 12 and September 14, citing signs of impairment in each driver. In one case, a 59-year-old woman from Eugene was arrested after allegedly driving the wrong way on a Beltline off-ramp. Another driver, 33, was taken into custody for DUII and possession of methamphetamine after allegedly committing multiple traffic violations near River Road.

Deputies also reported an incident where a 45-year-old man allegedly drove into the wrong lane near Pattison Street in Eugene, nearly striking another vehicle. Authorities said the man resisted arrest but was ultimately detained on DUII and additional charges.

Other arrests included a 57-year-old Veneta woman, a 39-year-old Eugene man who allegedly caused a crash and power outage on East Beacon Drive, and a 23-year-old man arrested on Highway 99 after reportedly following another vehicle too closely and accelerating dangerously.

The sheriff’s office emphasized the lack of a dedicated DUI enforcement team but said deputies remain committed to road safety. Officials urged residents to plan ahead for safe rides, never drive after drinking or using drugs, and always wear seatbelts.
