Pittsburgh has recorded 40.0 inches of snow this season, above normal levels.

According to the National Weather Service Eastern Region, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania measured 40.0 inches of snowfall as of 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, compared to a normal 29.0 inches through the same date.

Elsewhere in Pennsylvania, Erie has recorded 67.8 inches, while Bluefield has measured 39.3 inches. Both locations are running above their seasonal averages. Allentown stands at 28.9 inches compared to a normal 20.6 inches, and Philadelphia has recorded 16.0 inches, slightly above its normal 14.8 inches.

Some locations are closer to seasonal averages or below. Williamsport has measured 16.9 inches compared to a normal 22.4 inches, while parts of north-central Pennsylvania were noted as below normal in the regional summary.

The National Weather Service highlighted that measurable snowfall has occurred at each primary reporting site listed in the Eastern U.S. update — an uncommon benchmark for mid-February.

For commuters, students, and road crews across Pennsylvania, above-average snowfall in several metro areas has meant repeated plowing operations and periodic travel slowdowns this winter.

The snowfall year runs from July 1 through June 30.
