Sardinia, NY – A 35-year-old Sardinia man was arrested Saturday afternoon following an investigation into methamphetamine sales by the Erie County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics and Intelligence Unit.

According to Erie County Sheriff John C. Garcia, deputies executed a search warrant around 4 p.m. on October 27 at a home on South Protection Road in Sardinia. The suspect, identified as Kierian Phalen, was found in the driveway, where deputies allegedly recovered metal knuckles.

During the search, investigators seized suspected methamphetamine, D-amphetamine, a digital scale, a plastic container, and a glass vial. Authorities said Phalen allegedly attempted to break free from his handcuffs after being detained, damaging both the restraints and a metal partition in the patrol vehicle.

Phalen faces multiple charges, including third- and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia, fourth-degree criminal mischief, and third-degree attempted escape.

He was transported to the Erie County Holding Center pending arraignment.

Sheriff Garcia said the ongoing efforts of the Narcotics and Intelligence Unit are “laser focused on rooting out the sale of dangerous drugs that threaten our safety.”
