Grand Island, NY – A Grand Island man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after Erie County Sheriff’s deputies allegedly recovered large quantities of prescription pills, narcotics, and cash during a search.
According to the Erie County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began with a tip that led to a search warrant for a residence on Stony Point Road. Deputies executed the warrant around 1:30 p.m. on September 10, where they reportedly found more than two pounds of suspected alprazolam, along with methamphetamine, psilocybin, testosterone, and drug paraphernalia. Authorities also seized an undetermined amount of U.S. currency.
The suspect, identified as 35-year-old David Santillo II of Grand Island, was taken into custody without incident. He was charged with multiple drug-related offenses, including third- and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia, and seventh-degree possession.
Santillo II was transported to the Erie County Holding Center before being arraigned in Grand Island Town Court, where he was released on his own recognizance.
“This case highlights the important teamwork between the deputies of our Road Patrol and the detectives of our Narcotics and Intelligence Unit,” Sheriff John C. Garcia said in a statement. “As a result, illegal drugs are off the streets.”
