HERSCHER – Schools in District 2 will return to remote learning after several families tested positive for COVID-19 in the district.

“The District has been notified by multiple parents at (Bonfield Grade School) and (Limestone Middle School) that either their student, themselves or a family member has tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24-48 hours.” Superintendent Dr. Richard S. Decman said in a statement Saturday.

The report came just over a week after the Herscher Superintendent reported at least one faculty member at both schools had tested positive for COVID-19.

Decman did not add exactly many students and families within the district had tested positive for the virus during that time. Herscher High School just recently returned to in-person learning on Nov 10th.

“In an attempt to slow down the spread of COVID-19 and prevent an outbreak, the entire District will be going to Remote Learning beginning Tuesday, November 17th through November 24th.  We will plan to resume in-person learning on November 30th. “ Decman added Saturday.

As recently as October 30th, 10 faculty and staff members and 113 students isolated in Herscher schools.
