LITTLE ROCK, AR – Severe thunderstorms are expected across southeastern Arkansas this afternoon, bringing damaging winds, hail, and the possibility of tornadoes. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued an enhanced risk warning for areas along the I-40 corridor, including Little Rock, Pine Bluff, and Texarkana.

According to the NWS, the most intense storms are predicted between 12 p.m. and 8 p.m. Sunday. Wind gusts could reach 80 mph, and hail up to golf-ball size is possible. A few tornadoes may also develop. Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, avoid travel if possible, and monitor local weather alerts.

As the storms subside Sunday evening, a cold front will sweep into the region. Overnight lows are expected to drop to the low 20s, with wind chills making it feel even colder. Freezing rain may develop in northern Arkansas early Monday morning, creating hazardous travel conditions, especially on bridges and overpasses.

Monday will bring clear skies but frigid temperatures. Highs will only reach the upper 30s, and a brisk north wind will keep wind chills near freezing. Travelers and commuters are advised to prepare for icy conditions during the morning hours.

The five-day forecast indicates calmer weather by midweek, with sunshine and daytime highs in the mid-30s. However, another storm system may approach by Thursday, potentially bringing rain or snow.
