Elmhurst, IL – Elmhurst Police apprehended a theft suspect following a vehicle and foot pursuit on Tuesday morning. The incident began around 9:06 a.m. when officers responded to a 911 call reporting a theft from a residence on West Avenue.
An officer spotted the suspect’s vehicle, which attempted to flee. The chase ended near the Wagner Community Center when the suspect’s vehicle reached a dead end. The suspect then fled on foot into a wooded area. Officers pursued and apprehended the individual around 9:15 a.m. in a business parking lot near Lake Street.
As a precaution, Wagner Community Center, Emerson School, and Mary Queen of Heaven were placed on soft lockdown. Authorities confirmed the suspect did not access any of these buildings.
The suspect is in custody, and charges are pending. According to police, further details will be released once formal charges are filed. The investigation remains ongoing, and no injuries were reported during the incident.
