Elmhurst, IL – An early morning police chase involving Berkeley officers ended with a vehicle crashing into a home at Vallette and Parkside Ave. around 5 a.m. Officers pursued two vehicles suspected of burglarizing a vape shop in Berkeley when one lost control and struck the house.
Police apprehended a juvenile suspect who fled the crash scene. No one inside the home sustained injuries, but authorities confirmed the vehicle was a freshly stolen car from another suburb.
The second vehicle, a white Kia Sportage SUV, sped east on St. Charles Rd toward I-290 and Berkeley. Officers continue to search for this vehicle and any remaining suspects.
Berkeley Police took custody of the apprehended juvenile while Elmhurst officers investigated the scene for further evidence. Authorities report no further danger to Elmhurst residents. The investigation into the burglary and subsequent chase remains active.
Police urge residents to report any information about the white SUV or its occupants.
