Elmhurst, IL – A police pursuit ended in a traffic collision in Elmhurst early Friday morning, May 9, 2025, at approximately 8:20 a.m. Three suspects were taken into custody following the crash.
According to the Elmhurst Police Department, the pursuit began in Villa Park after officers attempted to stop a vehicle wanted in their jurisdiction. The suspect vehicle fled south on Berkley Avenue, eventually colliding with a pickup truck at the intersection of Berkley Avenue and Prairie Path Lane. The vehicle continued south, veering off the road and hitting a residential garage located on the 500 block of South Berkley Avenue.
Three suspects fled the vehicle on foot, but police apprehended them within minutes, the department said. As a precaution, the Elmhurst Police Department issued a Secure and Teach status at Lincoln Elementary School during the incident. The status was lifted once the situation was resolved, and no injuries were reported from the traffic crash. The garage at the impacted home was unoccupied at the time.
