Elmhurst, IL – Police in Elmhurst responded to a violent incident early Tuesday when a man allegedly attacked his neighbor’s home with an axe. Authorities received a 911 call around 9:06 a.m. reporting the man smashing the front door and windows of a residence near Pick Avenue and Albert Avenue.
Officers arrived and located the suspect in the garage of the home. They quickly took him into custody without further incident and transported him to a nearby hospital for evaluation. According to the Elmhurst Police Department, the man is a neighbor of the homeowner, and no one inside the residence was harmed.
Police emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the community. They are holding the suspect in custody while charges are pending, though his identity has not been released.
The investigation remains active, and authorities have not disclosed a motive for the alleged attack. Officials assured residents of Elmhurst that public safety remains their top priority as they review the case.
