Elmhurst, IL – Lombard Man Assaulted at Park After Online Dating App Meetup Turns Violent

Elmhurst, IL – A Lombard man became the victim of a violent assault following a deceptive online dating app encounter at Berens Park. 

Elmhurst Police Department reported that on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at approximately 9:00 p.m., the man, who had arranged to meet someone through a dating app, was instead ambushed by a group of teenage males. The incident, which took place on the east side of the park near Walnut Street, escalated when the teens allegedly attacked the man, inflicting physical harm.

The victim’s car was reportedly vandalized, and personal belongings were stolen. The perpetrators, described as white males in their late teens, were last seen fleeing the scene in unknown vehicles heading south on Walnut Street. The Elmhurst Police are diligently investigating the incident and are appealing to the community for assistance.
