MARQUETTE, MI – Residents of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula should prepare for a wet and foggy evening, with steady rain showers expected to continue through late Tuesday night, impacting Election Day activities. A brief clearing is anticipated by Wednesday afternoon, though cooler temperatures will follow as the front moves eastward. Those heading out to vote or commute along local roads should exercise caution due to potential visibility issues from fog and wet road conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, Marquette and surrounding areas will experience lows of 37 to 44 degrees tonight, accompanied by diminishing showers. Patchy fog will likely form late, creating visibility challenges on popular routes like U.S. Highway 41 and M-28. Rain chances remain high at 90% through 2 a.m., with possible additional accumulation up to half an inch.

By Wednesday, conditions will improve slightly, with only a 20% chance of lingering showers in the early morning, giving way to partly sunny skies and a high near 49 degrees. Winds will shift northwest at 5 to 10 mph, bringing drier air that should persist through the week. Wednesday night will bring another significant dip in temperatures, with lows between 24 and 36 degrees in the region’s colder interior areas.

Looking ahead, Thursday promises clearer skies and daytime highs near 51 degrees, while Friday should remain sunny and reach similar temperatures. Weekend forecasts indicate mostly sunny conditions, with a high of 53 degrees expected on Saturday. Residents are advised to bundle up, as nighttime temperatures will hover in the low-to-mid 30s.
