East Chicago, IN – Police responded to a call about an unresponsive person outside a home on Tod Avenue on Saturday morning. Officers arrived at 4909 Tod Avenue around 8:45 a.m. and found an elderly woman lying on the ground between two houses.
She was unresponsive, cold to the touch, and not breathing. Medics confirmed she was deceased at the scene. Police say there were no immediate signs of foul play, but investigators were called in to ensure a thorough review.
The East Chicago Police Criminal Investigation Division and Homicide Task Force launched an investigation. Authorities are working to determine the cause of death and notify the family. The Lake County Coroner’s Office is handling identification.
