El Paso, TX – The sky above the Franklin Mountains begins to clear this Friday morning as West Texas slides into a warm and tranquil stretch of fall weather. After a cloudy start, sunshine will dominate by midday with highs pushing near 78°F, giving the Borderland a near-perfect afternoon for outdoor plans.

According to the National Weather Service in El Paso, a weak front passing overnight brought a brief spell of clouds and wind, but conditions now trend calm and dry. Winds will shift northwest at 10–15 mph, with gusts near 20 mph before easing this afternoon.

Saturday and Sunday continue the steady warm-up, with highs climbing into the mid to upper 70s Saturday and reaching near 80°F on Sunday under bright, blue skies. Nights stay cool but comfortable, dipping into the low to mid-50s.

For residents planning weekend hikes at Hueco Tanks or drives along I-10, the weather stays ideal — dry air, clear visibility, and light winds. It’s also a great weekend to get ahead on fall cleanup or start setting up early Halloween décor before temperatures cool slightly next week.

Looking ahead, Monday holds onto the warmth with highs around 82°F before a gradual cool-down brings mid-70s by midweek. No rain or strong cold fronts are expected through at least Wednesday, giving El Paso one of its calmest stretches of October weather so far.

To be fair, fall’s chill will eventually find the region — but for now, West Texas enjoys another golden weekend under open skies.
