El Paso, TX Weather: 20% Chance of Thunderstorms Wednesday, Drying Out into the Weekend

El Paso, TX – Spotty afternoon thunderstorms could bring brief downpours to parts of El Paso on Wednesday before a stretch of hot, dry weather takes hold into the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in El Paso, a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms lingers Wednesday afternoon and evening, mainly after 2 p.m. Temperatures will reach near 92 degrees with light northeast winds. Any storms that do develop could bring gusty winds and localized lightning before tapering off by late night.

By Thursday, skies turn sunny with highs climbing into the mid-90s. Winds will shift out of the east at 5 to 10 mph, helping push drier air across the Borderland. Friday and Saturday are expected to be the hottest stretch, with highs of 95 to 96 degrees under clear skies.

Residents are urged to stay hydrated and limit outdoor activity during the hottest part of the afternoon, especially as heat builds heading into the weekend.

The National Weather Service says the next chance of storms may not return until early next week, with mostly sunny skies dominating in the meantime.
