El Paso drivers and residents should prepare for changing skies as the fall season begins with storm chances on Tuesday, September 23. Forecasters say thunderstorms could develop in the evening, possibly impacting commutes along I-10 and other major routes.

According to the National Weather Service, Tuesday will start sunny with a high near 93 degrees before clouds build later in the day. A 20% chance of thunderstorms is expected after sunset, with winds becoming light and variable. While severe weather is not forecast, residents should monitor updates and allow extra travel time.

Wednesday brings a break from the heat, with highs dropping to 85 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Another 20% chance of storms could appear in the evening, continuing into Thursday. Breezy east winds up to 17 mph are possible, making conditions less comfortable for outdoor activities.

Looking ahead, Thursday’s forecast shows a high near 88 degrees with a chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight. Friday should hold mostly sunny skies with highs around 87, while Saturday cools further to near 82 degrees.

The early taste of fall weather offers relief from the summer heat, but scattered showers may affect travel and outdoor plans this week. Residents are encouraged to secure outdoor items, check for changing forecasts, and plan commutes with possible delays in mind.
