El Paso, Texas – A brutal stretch of heat will bake El Paso and surrounding areas through Tuesday evening, with temperatures climbing as high as 107°F in the Lower Valley and 105°F in downtown El Paso. Health officials are warning residents to take immediate precautions to avoid heat-related illness.
According to the National Weather Service in El Paso, a Heat Advisory remains in effect from noon Monday through 9 p.m. Tuesday for most of El Paso County, the Rio Grande Valley, and parts of Hudspeth County. The hottest hours will hit between 3 and 7 p.m. both days, with little overnight relief as lows hover near 77°F.
Cities including Fort Hancock, Socorro, and Tornillo will also feel the brunt of the heat, which may strain power grids and increase the risk of dehydration and heat exhaustion. Officials urge residents to limit outdoor activity, wear light clothing, and stay in air-conditioned spaces.
Those working or spending time outside should hydrate frequently and avoid strenuous activity during peak hours. Keep an eye on vulnerable individuals, including seniors and young children.
Temperatures are expected to remain near 100°F through midweek, with additional advisories possible if the heat persists.
