Walnut Ridge, AR – Consumers across Arkansas and Missouri are being urged not to eat, sell, or serve certain eggs recalled by Black Sheep Egg Company after federal inspectors found Salmonella contamination.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the recall affects 12- and 18-count cartons of Black Sheep Egg Company branded Free Range Large Grade A Brown Eggs with Best By dates ranging from August 22, 2025, through October 31, 2025. The recalled products include UPC codes 860010568507 and 860010568538.

FDA officials said the eggs were distributed in Arkansas and Missouri between July 9 and September 17, 2025, and may also have been repackaged by other companies. As a result, additional products could be added to the advisory.

Symptoms of Salmonella infection include diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps, typically appearing within 12 to 72 hours of exposure. Young children, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems are most at risk for severe illness.

On September 29, FDA inspectors reported that 40 environmental samples collected at the company’s Walnut Ridge facility tested positive for Salmonella, including multiple strains known to cause human illness. While no outbreak has been directly linked to the company, the agency emphasized that contaminated products may still be in consumers’ refrigerators.

The FDA recommends throwing away or returning recalled cartons. Any surfaces or containers that may have touched the eggs should be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized. Consumers who develop symptoms after eating eggs should contact their healthcare provider.
