Egegik, Alaska – A magnitude 3.3 earthquake struck deep beneath southwest Alaska late Sunday morning, registering at 126.7 kilometers below the surface and limiting surface-level shaking across the Bristol Bay region.

According to the Alaska Earthquake Center, the tremor occurred at 11:37 a.m. UTC (3:37 a.m. local time) roughly 78 kilometers east-southeast of Egegik. The quake’s depth significantly reduced the likelihood of damage, and as of the latest update, no impacts or felt reports have been submitted.

Seismic activity at this depth typically produces little to no disruption at ground level, though monitoring systems continue tracking aftershocks within a 250-kilometer radius. Communities including King Salmon, Dillingham, and surrounding Bristol Bay villages remain unaffected, with no infrastructure issues reported.

Alaska averages thousands of earthquakes each year, most of them minor and occurring in remote or offshore regions. Emergency officials advise residents to review basic preparedness steps, including securing heavy items and knowing safe shelter locations in case of stronger shaking.

No alerts or advisories have been issued following this event, but seismic monitoring remains active through Sunday as additional data is analyzed.
