Floris, IA – The National Weather Service confirmed an EF-0 tornado touched down in Davis County on November 5. The brief tornado impacted areas south of Floris, damaging two farm buildings before dissipating.
According to the National Weather Service, the tornado remained on the ground for only one-third of a mile. Peak winds reached 85 mph, with a maximum width of 50 yards. Survey results revealed no injuries or fatalities associated with the event.
The tornado brings Iowa’s total for 2024 to 125, highlighting an active weather year for the state. Officials noted the importance of early warnings and preparedness during peak tornado seasons.
Drone footage and photographic evidence helped meteorologists confirm the tornado’s impact. While minor, the damage underscores the unpredictable nature of severe weather in the region.
