Ellensburg, WA – A mix of snow and freezing rain is expected to impact travel across portions of central and eastern Washington today as a cold front pushes through the region, according to the National Weather Service in Pendleton.

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 10 a.m. Tuesday to 4 a.m. Wednesday for the Kittitas Valley and the lower and upper slopes of the Eastern Washington Cascades Crest, including Ellensburg, Cle Elum, Roslyn, and Appleton.

Forecasters expect up to 9 inches of snow along higher slopes near Roslyn and Easton, up to 6 inches on lower slopes, and 1 to 2 inches of snow with a light glaze of ice in the Kittitas Valley. Periods of moderate to heavy snow and low visibility could make driving hazardous, particularly along I-90 near Snoqualmie Pass and through Ellensburg.

Officials advise travelers to slow down, allow extra time, and check wsdot.wa.gov/travel for the latest road updates. Even light snow or ice may create slick spots during the Tuesday evening commute.

Conditions are expected to gradually improve early Wednesday as the storm system moves east.
