Eastern Washington Weather: Storms Sunday, Sunny Stretch Ahead by Monday

Spokane, Wash. – Drivers and residents in Spokane should prepare for a wet Sunday, with heavy rain expected during the late morning and afternoon before clearer skies return early next week. The system could briefly slow travel and bring slick roads across eastern Washington.

According to the National Weather Service in Spokane, rain is most likely between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Sunday, followed by a chance of showers into the evening. Precipitation totals could reach a quarter of an inch in some areas. Winds will remain light out of the south, around 6 to 9 mph.

Sunday night carries a 40% chance of showers before 11 p.m., but drier conditions are expected Monday. Highs will rebound into the mid-70s Monday under mostly sunny skies, climbing to the mid-80s by Tuesday and Wednesday. Wednesday looks to be the warmest day of the week, topping out near 87°F.

Residents are advised to keep rain gear handy Sunday and allow extra travel time during the morning and afternoon hours. Conditions will improve quickly, making for clear evenings and a dry start to the workweek.

More showers may return by late Friday into Saturday, but most of the workweek stays dry.
