Spokane, WA – After a stretch of warm late-September weather, eastern Washington is preparing for a sharp change as fall-like conditions settle in early next week.
According to the National Weather Service Spokane, temperatures will climb well above seasonal norms this weekend, with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s on Sunday, September 28. But by midweek, highs are forecast to dip into the 50s, with overnight lows dropping into the upper 30s and low 40s across much of the Inland Northwest.
Meteorologists say the shift will begin Monday, September 29, as unsettled weather moves into the region. Daily chances for showers are expected from Monday through Thursday, October 2. Cities including Spokane, Pullman, Moses Lake, and Coeur d’Alene will all see the cooler trend.
“After our seasonably cool Friday, daytime temperatures will again rise to well above normal by Sunday,” the forecast stated. “Conditions then look to cool to autumnal norms by the middle of next week.”
The week will begin with highs in the 70s, but forecasters warn that cooler daytime readings, increased cloud cover, and scattered showers may bring a damp and chilly feel to morning commutes and evening activities starting Tuesday.
Residents are advised to plan for rapidly changing weather—especially those traveling across northern Idaho and eastern Washington where roadways could become slick during showers.
