Spokane, WA – Spokane residents should brace for extreme heat Tuesday as temperatures climb to 100°F, prompting a heat advisory from noon Monday through 8 p.m. Tuesday. The National Weather Service warns that the risk for heat-related illnesses will be at its highest Tuesday afternoon, especially for those without cooling or hydration.
According to the NWS Spokane office, the advisory covers much of eastern Washington and the Idaho Panhandle, including Cheney, Deer Park, Colville, Coeur d’Alene, and Pullman. Officials urge residents to drink plenty of water, stay indoors during peak heat hours, and check on vulnerable neighbors and relatives.
Daytime highs will hover near 98°F Monday before surging to 100°F Tuesday. Light winds will offer little relief, and overnight lows in the mid-60s mean limited cooling. Outdoor workers, athletes, and those attending local events should plan for frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned spaces.
The heat wave will ease slightly by Wednesday, with highs near 93°F, but temperatures remain above seasonal averages into late week. Another update from the NWS is expected if the advisory is extended or expanded.
