Spokane, WA – Overnight temperatures could dip to near-freezing across eastern Washington and north-central Idaho, putting gardens and crops at risk as a widespread frost advisory remains in effect through 8 a.m. Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Spokane, lows between 32 and 36 degrees are expected between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m. in a broad area including the Idaho Palouse, Lewis and Nez Perce Counties, and across the Washington Palouse, Upper Columbia Basin, and Okanogan Highlands.

Communities such as Pullman, Moscow, Colfax, Winthrop, and Republic could wake up to frost-covered lawns and fields. Rural roads like Chesaw Road and Sherman Pass may see slick spots in low-lying areas. Gardeners and farmers are urged to cover or bring in sensitive plants to avoid damage. Livestock owners should ensure water sources don’t freeze overnight.

This late-season cold snap is typical for higher elevations in May but could surprise growers after a warmer-than-average spring.

Conditions will begin warming mid-morning Monday, but additional advisories are possible later this week.
