Spokane, WA – A cold start to the week is ahead for parts of eastern Washington and northern Idaho, with temperatures expected to dip into the mid-20s to mid-30s early Monday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Spokane.

A Frost Advisory is in effect for the Moses Lake Area and Upper Columbia Basin, while a hard freeze is possible in sheltered valleys of northeast Washington and north Idaho. Areas such as Republic, Colville, and Deer Park may see morning lows in the 20s.

Forecasters say the chill marks the end of the growing season for much of the region. Residents are urged to cover or bring in sensitive plants, disconnect outdoor hoses, and prepare for icy windshields during the morning commute.

Temperature maps from the NWS show widespread lows in the 20s and low 30s, with colder pockets expected in higher elevations. Spokane and Coeur d’Alene are forecast to drop near 34°F, while Colville could fall to 23°F.

The NWS advises that frost formation is likely before sunrise, especially in low-lying areas where cold air settles.
