Pendleton, OR – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for the upper slopes of the eastern Washington Cascades through 7 p.m. PST Saturday, with the National Weather Service warning of heavy snowfall, high winds, and dangerous travel conditions at higher elevations.
According to the National Weather Service Pendleton office, areas above 4,000 feet—including communities near Roslyn and Easton—are expected to receive 8 to 12 inches of snow. West winds may gust up to 50 mph, creating blowing snow and pockets of near-whiteout visibility.
Forecasters say snowfall will be heavy at times, increasing the risk of tree damage due to strong winds and accumulated snow. Travel across mountain roads and backcountry routes may become very difficult, particularly during heavier snow bands and wind gusts.
Drivers are urged to slow down, use caution, and check updated road conditions through the Washington State Department of Transportation at wsdot.wa.gov/travel.
Additional updates will be issued as conditions evolve through Saturday.
