Spokane, WA – A marginal risk of severe thunderstorms is forecast across Eastern Washington and North Idaho on Wednesday, with threats including lightning, gusty winds, hail, and heavy rainfall.

According to the National Weather Service in Spokane, the most likely timeframe for storm activity will be late Wednesday afternoon through early Thursday morning. Areas under the highest risk include Spokane, Pullman, Lewiston, and parts of the Idaho Panhandle such as Coeur d’Alene and Sandpoint.

Forecasters warn that while storm coverage may remain scattered, any storms that do develop could bring damaging winds and large hail. The ingredients are in place for potentially strong thunderstorm formation, though their severity will depend on how atmospheric conditions align throughout the day.

Rain chances are high Wednesday night, with a 60% to 90% probability. The threat for thunderstorms drops to a lower 20% to 40% range by Thursday morning, but lingering showers and gusts remain possible.

Residents are advised to secure outdoor items, monitor local forecasts, and prepare for potential power outages or travel disruptions. Motorists should use caution during periods of heavy rain, especially during the evening commute.
