Richmond, Va. – Virginia residents can expect a hot but more bearable day Friday, with temperatures climbing into the mid-to-upper 80s and humidity levels lower than earlier this week.

According to the National Weather Service in Wakefield, a high-pressure system is settling over the region, bringing drier air and stable weather conditions. Inland areas like Richmond, Petersburg, and Emporia are forecast to reach 88°F, while coastal zones such as Norfolk and Virginia Beach will stay slightly cooler, topping out around 84–85°F.

Though the air will be less sticky, the heat will still be noticeable—especially for those spending extended time outdoors. Hydration and sun protection are recommended, especially between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. when UV levels peak. Overnight lows are expected to fall into the upper 60s, offering some relief for those without air conditioning.

No rain is expected today, but residents are encouraged to report any severe weather signs such as wind damage or hail. The NWS asks that reports include the location and time for accurate tracking.

More hot, dry weather is expected to persist through the weekend. Additional updates may follow if conditions change.
