Las Vegas, NV – The National Weather Service in Las Vegas has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the Eastern Sierra, in effect from 4 a.m. Thursday, November 13, through 10 a.m. Friday, November 14, 2025.

Forecasters say a potent winter system will bring heavy mountain snow and strong winds, making travel hazardous along Highway 168 and nearby mountain routes. Aspendell, California, is expected to receive 8–14 inches of new snow, while elevations above 9,000 feet could see 12–24 inches by the time the storm exits Friday morning.

Wind gusts between 30 and 40 mph will accompany the storm, producing blowing snow and reduced visibility, especially at higher passes. Drivers are urged to avoid nonessential mountain travel, check Caltrans QuickMap for road updates, and carry chains if travel is unavoidable.

The NWS says confidence in heavy snow totals is increasing, though exact timing could shift as the system develops. Snow showers are expected to taper off late Friday, followed by calmer and drier conditions heading into the weekend.
