Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Beachgoers along the Mid-Atlantic should use extreme caution through Thursday as a high risk of dangerous rip currents affects the New Jersey and Delaware coastlines, despite improving weather conditions inland.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, Wednesday remains mostly cloudy across eastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, and northern Delaware with high temperatures between 75–83°F. A few sprinkles or a light shower can’t be ruled out. Some haze is possible as wildfire smoke lingers aloft.

Thursday brings brighter skies and warmer temps in the mid-80s, but also the peak risk for dangerous rip currents. An easterly breeze will contribute to the surf threat, especially at beaches from Cape May to Rehoboth. Swimming is strongly discouraged unless lifeguards are present.

By Friday, mostly sunny skies dominate with continued dry conditions and highs steady in the low to mid-80s. However, beach hazards may linger due to the onshore breeze.

The National Weather Service urges residents and visitors to check local beach patrols, avoid swimming alone, and heed flags and posted warnings. Further advisories may be issued if wind and surf conditions remain elevated.
