Philadelphia, Pa. – A stretch of unseasonably cool weather is expected to linger across eastern Pennsylvania through next weekend, bringing refreshing daytime highs and crisp overnight lows. Residents can expect several more days of mild afternoons paired with cooler-than-normal nights.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, there is a 60 to 70 percent likelihood that below-normal temperatures will remain in place through at least next Sunday. Normal late-August and early-September conditions typically mean highs in the low to mid-80s and lows in the low to mid-60s. Current trends suggest readings will stay a few degrees below that range.

The cooler air will be especially noticeable overnight, when temperatures may dip into the upper 50s across suburban areas north and west of Philadelphia. Daytime highs will remain comfortable, ranging in the upper 70s to low 80s, ideal for outdoor events and travel. Skies are also expected to stay mostly clear, keeping conditions dry and reducing storm risks.

Travelers and commuters should still be mindful of early morning fog patches in rural areas, and homeowners may want to plan for windows-open cooling instead of air conditioning.

The National Weather Service says the pattern of cooler, drier air could extend into the middle of next week, with updates expected in the coming days.
