Allentown, PA – The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for eastern Pennsylvania, including Allentown and surrounding areas, until 11 p.m. tonight. Residents are advised to prepare for severe weather conditions, including damaging winds and large hail.
According to the NWS, isolated thunderstorms are forming over eastern Pennsylvania and will continue to affect the region throughout the afternoon. A larger cluster of storms from western Pennsylvania is expected to arrive by evening, bringing increased threats. Key hazards include wind gusts up to 75 mph, hail up to 1.5 inches in diameter, and isolated tornadoes.
The severe thunderstorm watch area extends approximately 60 miles north and south of a line from 40 miles west of Allentown, PA, to 20 miles east-northeast of New York City. The NWS advises residents to secure outdoor items, stay indoors during severe weather, and keep up with the latest weather updates.
