Pendleton, Oregon – Much of Eastern Oregon is bracing for a spike in temperatures heading into the weekend, with highs reaching into the upper 90s and low 100s, especially near Dallesport and Hermiston by Saturday. The National Weather Service warns of dry conditions and light winds alongside this intense heat wave, expected to last through Sunday.

According to the Weather Forecast Office in Pendleton, temperatures will remain near-seasonal through Wednesday before surging 5 to 15 degrees above average starting Thursday. Cities like Redmond, La Grande, and Walla Walla are projected to see daily highs between 93°F and 99°F from Friday through Sunday. Dallesport is forecasted to hit a dangerous 100°F on Saturday, while Yakima, John Day, and Pasco all trend above 95°F through the weekend.

A modest drop in temperatures is expected by Monday, but hot, dry weather remains dominant through the weekend. Additional heat advisories may be issued if trends continue.
