Oregon – Cold air hangs over eastern Oregon this morning as clear skies give way to thickening clouds and a coming shift in Weather. The ground feels stiff underfoot, breath shows in the air, and early light reveals a pattern that turns more active as the day moves on.

According to the National Weather Service, Pendleton begins the morning near 34 degrees, warming into the upper 40s later today. Rain chances increase by late morning and afternoon, with gusty winds developing. Wind speeds may reach 20 to 30 mph at times, especially along open stretches of Highway 11 and I-84.

Rain becomes more likely into tonight, with chances climbing near 70 percent. While totals stay generally light, wet pavement and gusty winds could impact travel during evening hours. Drivers should remain alert for slick conditions and sudden crosswinds.

By Wednesday, showers continue with colder air slowly filtering in. Snow levels drop to around 2,200 feet during the day, then lower further Wednesday night. A rain-and-snow mix becomes possible late, particularly on higher terrain and nearby passes. Accumulation in the city remains unlikely, but conditions may change quickly outside town.

Thursday brings another round of unsettled Winter Weather. Rain and snow may mix early before trending back toward rain as snow levels rise slightly. Winds increase again, with gusts possibly topping 30 mph. Temperatures hold in the mid-40s, keeping a raw, wintry feel.

By Friday and into the weekend, conditions improve. Skies turn partly sunny, winds ease, and highs climb into the low 50s. Nights remain cold, hovering near freezing, but travel conditions stabilize. Daylight continues its slow January increase, offering brighter afternoons as the first full week of 2026 moves forward.
