Tulsa, Oklahoma – Dry skies across Eastern Oklahoma and Northwest Arkansas Saturday will give way to another round of thunderstorms Sunday evening, bringing the potential for heavy rain and gusty winds. The storm threat comes ahead of a significant midweek heat wave, with temperatures climbing sharply by Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop Sunday night as another disturbance tracks across the region. Storm chances are highest south of Interstate 40, where localized downpours and cloud-to-ground lightning could impact communities including McAlester, Poteau, and Fort Smith.

Saturday will remain calm with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid-80s, offering a break from the unsettled weather earlier this week. But by late Sunday, residents should be alert to changing conditions, especially if traveling in rural or flood-prone areas.

After the storms clear, dangerous heat takes over. Temperatures will rise into the mid-90s by Wednesday, with heat index values topping 100°F in parts of Tulsa, Muskogee, and surrounding counties. Early-week preparation is advised for those without reliable cooling.

Five-Day Forecast for Tulsa, Oklahoma:

  • Saturday: Mostly sunny, high near 85°F
  • Sunday: Increasing clouds, chance of storms late (30%), high 85°F
  • Monday: Slight chance of storms (20%), high 85°F
  • Tuesday: Sunny, hot, high 90°F
