Tulsa, OK – Temperatures across eastern Oklahoma are expected to surge toward record levels through the weekend, with highs climbing into the upper 80s and low 90s.
According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, a strengthening upper-level ridge will drive temperatures 20 to 30 degrees above average from Thursday through Sunday.
Forecast highs include 87 degrees in Tulsa on Thursday, rising to around 90 Friday, and reaching the low 90s by Saturday and Sunday. Similar conditions are expected across the region, including Fort Smith and Fayetteville, where temperatures may approach or exceed daily records.
Historical comparisons show several daily records in the upper 80s to upper 90s, with some forecast values matching or surpassing those benchmarks, particularly Friday and Saturday.
The National Weather Service warns that this early-season heat, combined with low relative humidity and periodic breezy conditions, will increase fire weather concerns across the region.
Dry conditions are expected to persist through the period, further elevating the risk of grass and brush fires.
The unseasonable warmth may impact outdoor work, travel, and early-season activities, especially during peak afternoon heat.
