Tulsa, OK – An upper-level storm system is expected to bring an unsettled and soggy weather pattern to eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas late this week, according to the National Weather Service Tulsa. The system will move in Thursday and persist through Saturday, bringing rounds of moderate to heavy rainfall across the region.

Forecasters say there is a medium chance for widespread rainfall totals between 2 and 4 inches, with a lower chance for isolated amounts up to 5–7 inches in some areas. While a few storms could turn strong on Thursday and Friday, the main concern will be potential flooding from heavy rain, particularly by Friday night.

The NWS notes some uncertainty remains in the exact storm track, which will affect where the heaviest rain falls. Still, both Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas should prepare for wet roads, ponding in low-lying areas, and slower travel conditions through the weekend.

Meteorologists encourage residents to monitor updates throughout the week as the storm system approaches, as rainfall forecasts could shift depending on the storm’s movement.
