Tulsa, Oklahoma – Unseasonably hot temperatures nearing 95°F are creating immediate fire concerns across eastern Oklahoma, with near-record heat peaking through Sunday evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, temperatures are running 20 to 30 degrees above average, with highs reaching the low to mid-90s in cities like Tulsa, Muskogee, and McAlester. Combined with low humidity and periodic gusty winds, these conditions are elevating fire weather risks across the region.

Communities including Bartlesville, Okmulgee, and Tahlequah are also experiencing unusually dry and warm conditions. Any spark could spread quickly, especially in grassy or rural areas near highways such as US-75 and the Creek Turnpike.

Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning, properly secure towing chains, and delay activities that could ignite fires. Fire crews remain on alert as conditions support rapid fire growth.

A dry cold front is expected to move through late Sunday, bringing slightly cooler temperatures but continued dry conditions into early next week. Additional advisories may be issued if fire risks persist.
