Tulsa, Okla. – Scattered thunderstorms are set to return across eastern Oklahoma this afternoon and evening, with the greatest chances developing east of U.S. Highway 69. The storms, expected between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m., could bring locally heavy rain and gusty winds to parts of the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, coverage of storms will remain low to moderate—around 15 to 40 percent—but any stronger cells that develop could produce dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning and brief heavy downpours. Areas across western Arkansas hold the higher storm probabilities.

Residents in Tulsa, Muskogee, and McAlester may notice fast-moving showers and occasional lightning strikes as the storms move through. The evening commute could be slowed by heavy bursts of rain on highways, especially east of I-40 and along U.S. 69. Drivers are urged to remain cautious and avoid flooded roadways.

Safety officials recommend staying indoors during lightning and monitoring local alerts in case stronger storms develop. While severe weather is not expected to be widespread, conditions may shift quickly.

More scattered showers remain possible later in the week, with updated advisories likely if additional storm chances increase.
