Tulsa, Oklahoma – Localized flash flooding could impact parts of eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas late Wednesday into Thursday, as another round of rain targets the region overnight.
According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, rainfall totals between 0.25 and 1 inch are expected from 7 p.m. Wednesday through 7 p.m. Thursday, primarily affecting cities like Tulsa, Fort Smith, Fayetteville, Muskogee, and McAlester. While this system won’t be as intense as previous rounds, the risk of flash flooding remains due to already saturated soils.
Communities along U.S. Highway 412, I-40, and I-44 should monitor conditions closely, particularly in low-lying areas where drainage is limited. Urban flooding and brief travel delays may occur in Fayetteville, Rogers, and Tahlequah. Drivers are urged to slow down on wet roads and avoid flooded underpasses.
This rainfall marks the third system in a week to hit the region, keeping local creeks and rivers elevated. However, relief is in sight. Temperatures are expected to climb into the mid-80s by the weekend, with drier conditions setting in across Oklahoma and Arkansas by Friday.
Flash flood advisories may be issued if rainfall rates intensify. Stay weather-aware through Thursday.
