Pittsburgh, PA – Residents across Pittsburgh were treated to a spectacular display early Monday morning as the northern lights, or aurora borealis, made a rare appearance. The lights, typically seen in regions closer to the Arctic, were visible due to strong solar activity, illuminating the night sky with vivid red and pink hues. The natural light show coincided with the peak of the Perseids meteor shower, making for a breathtaking celestial event.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, the auroras were visible as far south as Texas, an unusual occurrence that had stargazers across the United States in awe. Local photographers from Butler and Clarion counties captured stunning images of the event, which quickly circulated on social media.

As residents recover from the excitement of the auroras, Pittsburgh can expect a gradual rise in temperatures this week. Monday’s high is expected to reach 80 degrees with clear skies in the morning, followed by partly cloudy conditions by midday. The warm trend will continue through the week, with temperatures peaking at 85 degrees on Thursday. There’s a chance of showers Friday and Saturday, providing a brief respite from the heat before the sun returns Sunday.
